I am in the United States, Reston next to Washington DC. I walk down the street with a colleague of mine. Antoine says: « If we had been teleported here, opening the eyes, I would have known that we were in the U.S.. » He lived here a few years ago. I question him about his assumption. According to him, the city planning is typically American: the width of sidewalks, their border style, the choice of materials. On my side, the American city speaks to my ears. It rocks them with the muffled sound of gasoline V engines. While keeping my eyes closed, I think I would at least have been able to say that we were far away from France and its undersized diesel engine banging sound. America is definitely the country for the car lovers.
